On tax day, Indianapolis joined most other US cities in a nationwide Tea Party to oppose the massive "Porkulus Bill," irresponsible spending in Washington, and bigger government that is quickly bringing socialism in to replace the capitalist society that we all love so dearly. It was a relief to see so many people wanting to preserve the Constitution and the old-school values and principles that our country used to embrace. There was a huge turnout in front of the State Building downtown and I am proud to say that everyone attending was peaceful, respectful, and law-abiding (pretty impressive for a protest).
A Teaching Moment:
Although we didn't give Gavin much detail, we did tell him a little about why we were going to a "Tea Party." He understands the concept of "voting," so we explained that we wanted the people in charge that we had voted for to change some things. He knew that we were all getting together to celebrate our country and that a peaceful gathering was one way to get our message to Washington.
